Enough

You are not good enough.

You are worthless.

You’re too fat, too dumb, too boring, you don’t make enough money and nobody likes you let alone actually cares.

Think for a moment about what God must think of you after all you’ve done to betray Him.

Picture in your mind His face as He looks at you.

What is His expression?

Is it angry, sad, hurt, indifferent?

The truth is if you pictured God as anything but overjoyed with you, you’re mistaken.

*The Gospel truth is that in Christ, God is deeply satisfied with you. In fact, based on Jesus’ work, God has adopted you as his own son or daughter (Gal 4:7).

Now picture in your mind His face as He looks at you.

What is His expression?

What does overjoyed look like?

How does it feel to know that He is overjoyed with you?

Do you still feel too fat, too dumb, too boring, that you don’t make enough money and that nobody likes or cares about you?

Focus on that as you leave for work or school today. Maybe even tomorrow and the next day.

Think about that as you’re singing songs in church on Sunday.

Notice anything different?

*This line is an excerpt from a study called “The Gospel Centered Life” that my small group is going through and that was co-written by the former lead pastor of our church. You can google it. I would highly recommend going through it by yourself or with a small group.
